Nursing
ePortfolio
I am currently a freshman attending Santa Fe College. I plan on obtaining my Registered Nursing degree and then progressing into pediatric care.
Identity:
This piece was my self-portrait in which I described feeling small, yet feeling colorful and understanding I could grow.

Fantasy
This demonstrates how one's own imagination can lead to reality.

Truth
As human beings, we all have our own perceptions which influence our formulation of what we believe is true.
Alternative Representation
This piece goes against typical stereotypes of women who are often degraded and not seen as fit to be in politics.

Mandala
The mandala I drew is a geometric pattern, but it is meant to characterize wholeness.

Poem
This poem discusses a seed that turned into a sunflower. This symbolizes the internal struggles that we must overcome.
Evolving
The sun shined brightly on the soil this summer night
The wet grass and birds chirping were truly a delight
Slowly one could see the progression of the newly planted seed
The glistening sunflower began to rise indeed
It rose above the sky like an aimless tower
Its beauty could not be missed by this evolving flower.

Haiku and Haiga
I wrote a haiku and drew an accompanying haiga which is a short form of poetry.

Fictional Character
I constructed a fictional character named Julia who is very introverted, yet seems to land her dream job.
Song & Dance
This song expresses the admiration that one may feel for another because of the positive impact that they have on one's life. In the dance, I used finger moves.

Flash Film
This film discusses a girl, Julia, who finds out about a deadly virus, an earthquake, and comets hitting Earth.

Religion
I used this symbol to represent my philosophy that despite the obstacles we face, we must always remain persistent in order to achieve our goals.

My Philosophy
My philosophy of life is that determination and perseverance will be what allows me to obtain my goals in life. This way of thinking has allowed me to understand that if I want something, I have the ability to obtain it no matter how challenging it is. As long as I am committed to see the other side, I can achieve my goals. When we face these challenges, there are two paths we can take: 1) we can succumb to those obstacles and let the fear overpower us or 2) we can choose to persevere and show ourselves that we are capable of more than we think. Therefore, I hope that other people will also adapt this way of thinking as they travel throughout the rest of their lives. Not only will we accomplish something great, but we will also reach ultimate happiness and satisfaction with ourselves.
Visual Art
I incorporated some elements from the painting "The Girl with a Pearl Earring," such as a subtle color scheme.

Letterwriting
I decided to write a letter to my little brother. In this letter I decided to express my gratitude for him. I felt that I should tell him how proud I am of him and how far he’s come. I emphasized how special he is to me because he is my only brother and I asserted that I couldn’t imagine a life without his presence. I know that it is very rare for us to express our gratefulness for one another so I underscored this idea in this letter. As I was writing this letter, I felt super emotional because I know that I don’t tell him often enough that I love him and it just allowed me to express my appreciation for him. I left this letter in his room and once he got home from school and read it he said thank you and hugged me. This response was a perfect one however I knew that something had to change. I knew in that moment that I wanted to express my appreciation for him more often so this was a great activity.
